Hi, my name is Nicki Thompson.
I've been a professional painter and art teacher since 1998. I learned how to paint by taking lessons and working with a variety of world-class instructors, as well as through studying the techniques of the old masters like Rembrandt and Vermeer. My work has been accepted in many gallery shows, including the Arts At The Mansion, where I was chosen to paint "en Plein Air" at Scripps Mansion in Lake Orion, Michigan. I’m honored to know that my work is proudly displayed in many homes and businesses. As an artist, I work hard to create paintings that are realistic. I want to capture more than a mere likeness. I want to offer information, beauty, and sometimes mystery. When considering portraits, what inspires me is the pose or expression of the subject. That’s where the story is. I live on a small farm in Attica, Michigan, with my husband. We have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren whom we are very proud of. |
